清水・小野田等は「舞台芸術施設の経営に関する研究」(研究代表者山崎正和、1986-88年度)の一環として、昭和61年(1986年)を対象年度とした舞台芸術施設の運営・経営に関する全国的なアンケート調査を実施した。また「わが国文化・芸術情報の体系化と統計調査方法の研究」(研究代表者永山貞則、1990-91年度)の一部として、平成2年(1990年)を対象年度とした同様のアンケート調査を範囲をさらに広げて実施した。本研究は、平成7年(1995年)を対象年度として同様のアンケート調査を再度実施し、舞台芸術施設の運営・経営に関するより的確なデータを得るとともに、最終的には経年変化を分析することをねらいとするものである。平成8年度は、舞台芸術施設データベースの整備、試験調査の実施、調査票の設計、発送準備作業等を行い、平成9年1〜3月にかけてアンケート調査を実施した。平成9年度は、今回のアンケート調査の集計と過去2回の調査を加えた経年変化の分析等を行う予定である。「わが国文化・芸術情報の体系化と統計調査方法の研究」(研究代表者永山貞則、1990-91年度)において作成した「舞台芸術施設データベース」が、現在最も広範で詳細な舞台芸術施設リストである。本研究の調査に備え、不明部分の補完とその後に新設された施設の追加を行い、最新の舞台芸術施設データベースを整備した。また、過去2回の調査と今回の試験調査の結果から得られた知見を基に、舞台芸術施設の不整合な経理処理の実態を解明するために、調査票を再構築した。本研究は、過去2回の調査を引き継ぐことに意義がある。特に、来年度行う予定の経年変化の分析は、継続的なデータの蓄積によって今回初めて可能になるものである。昨今、文化施設に対してその運営や施策が重要視され、アートマネージメントの必要性が叫ばれているが、本研究はその基礎的資料を提供するものである。
