In the past one year, I have mainly optimized the rotary ultrasonic texturing (RUT) processes for fabrication of textured surfaces with better surface quality, further improved the theoretical research of the relationship between textural features and functional performances, and tried to design more geometrically defined tools for broadening the machinable structures of the RUT method. The burrs and surface defect problems were found to be partly solved by controlling the undeformed chip thickness and chip flow direction; the theoretical model has been established by using the principles of thermodynamics, and it can be used to predict and calculate the surface wettability; Different geometrically defined tools were designed and manufactured, and these tools can be used to fabricated different types of hybrid micro-/nanostructures. Using the experimental data, I have published 4 international journal papers on the related areas.
