IL-11 gene transcription is enhanced by mechanical stress to bone, and IL-11 stimulates osteoblast differentiation and bone formation via activation of canonical Wnt signaling. TGF-・inhibitor enhances osteoblast differentiation, and mature osteoblasts inhibit myeloma cell proliferation. Thus, TGF-・inhibition can become a new therapeutic approach against multiple myeloma. Pitavastatin ameliorates left ventricular diastolic function and microalbumiuria via suppression of oxidative stress. A thrombin inhibitor, heparin cofactor II, inhibits migration and proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, and protects against atherosclerotic changes.
