Biochemical Properties of Peptides Induced by Abnormal Occulusion

This study was designed to determine whether some proteins were affected by the abnormal occulusion and thereafter induced various peptides. Different dental treatment such as feeding with dental caries diet (D-2OOO), tooth extraction and orthodontic treatment was carried out in this study. In humans and rats, some proteins of parotid and submandibular salivas were affected by thee abnormal occulusion, but proline- and histidine-rich, and glutamine/glutamic acid-rich proteins were only degraded into various peptides. We do not know why such discrimination was occurred by the abnormal occulusion. Amino acid sequences and concentrations of induced peptides (P19, 20, 21, 24, 28 and 31, which we termed by HPLC) were elucidated and determined quantitatively after various treatments.
