While the expressive movement and/or the learning of dances were discussed, folk dances (including Japanese folk dances) have been classified differently from expressive/creative dances in every stage of developmentUnder the circumstances, placing creative dances" in the starting point toward both handing down traditional culture and creating new culture, authors try to create dances using certain local performing arts. We regard this as one of the approaches toward learning in traditional arts by creative dances.. For the first school year, Takachiho Yo Kagura in Miyazaki prefecture was selected as a theme and studied in dance lessons. The study shows that the participants have deepened the elementary schools in Miyazaki prefecture reveals that every year, the- numbers are decreasing because of the teacher's misunderstanding about local performing arts.In the next school year, in order to tell the teachers that the proposed project would develop the expressive movements of children and their love to keep their own local traditional backgrounds. authors introduced teaching materials suitable for the each stage of leaning and performed classroom studies. The results of the studies were reported in public. At the same time. the survey resulted in more favorable attitudes toward creative learning activities using traditional local arts by both local preservation groups and individual performers.Authors believe they have been able to show that local performing arts very rich sources of new learning materials for creative activities in school. Also it is proved that in every stage of learning. a learner could reach approximation of the traditional art without losing essential quality, though he/she might not perform technically in higher standard. Next, anthors hope to investigate the reasons why there are no local differences" among children's expressive movements.
