项目摘要

今年度は、平成26年度に調査を行ったレンブラントのミニアチュール素描に関して、第64回西洋史学会全国大会にてポスター発表を行った。とりわけ、近世の東西交易史の領域の専門家との意見交換を行うことが出来、近年の海洋史研究の動向や物質文化学に関する情報を得、大変有意義なフィードバックを得た。今年度の後半は、半年間ライデン大学地域研究研究科にて、visiting PhD studentとして滞在し、日本国内で参照の困難な文献（東インド会社の送り状資料等）やオランダ国内外の美術館、博物館所蔵の絵画資料、版画資料といった一次資料に数多くあたった。とりわけ、版画資料に関しては、オランダ国立美術館の版画素描部にて、レンブラントや彼の前時代の北方画家たちの作品を実見し、細部にいたるまで比較検討することができた。レンブラントの東洋趣味と関連して、17世紀オランダ国内に広く確認された中国陶磁器の流行にも着目し、油彩画に描かれた陶磁器に関する調査も同時に進めた。ライデン大学図書館では、陶磁器の流行を主題とした版画作品や当時の言説に関する資料を得ることができた。市民の社会的地位によってコレクション形態が異なること、また東インド会社に近しい立場であったW.カルフのような画家の描いた陶磁器はコレクションの中でもとりわけ希少で高価なものが描かれており、陶磁器の描写に高価な顔料を用いることでその透明感や深い藍を表現しているとの科学調査結果を入手した。また、静物画中に描かれた陶磁器が、同時代のもののみならず、前世紀のものを敢えて選定して描き込む場合もあり、コレクターや画家が膨大なコレクションの中から意図的な選定を行っている可能性が高いことが明らかとなった。
