项目摘要

本年度は（１）昨年度までの成果を学会で発表し、そこで得た知見をもとに議論を再検討し（２）国内各地で歴史資料の閲覧・撮影を行い、また奨励費を用いて関連する文献を収集し、（３）それらの分析を進めた。（１）19世紀初頭段階の江戸幕府の対外政策はどのような情報網を前提としていたのか、また、対外問題の発生に伴いそれがどのように変化したのかを昨年度検討した。その成果を報告し、同分野・隣接分野の研究者から不足点や発展の可能性を指摘された。特に、政治的な意思決定権を持たない民衆の関わり方が不明瞭である点や、多国間関係という視点を強調する必要がある点、近世史・近代史の接続可能性が、その後の課題として浮上した。（２）多国間関係と情報論という視点は維持しながら、（１）で得た新たな知見をもとに、今年度は18、19世紀の日本近海における欧米船舶の動向と江戸幕府の対応についての研究を進めた。具体的には東京大学史料編纂所・長崎歴史文化博物館・長崎大学附属図書館・大村市歴史資料館・福山市歴史資料室など、東京に加え遠隔地にも赴いて歴史資料の調査を行ったほか、地域史にかかわる古書などを収集した。（３）（２）で収集した歴史資料を分析し、文献を参照して検討を進めた。特に、船の旗に関わる文字資料や図といった日本語史料・オランダ語史料について比較検討を進めた。その結果、19世紀日本で作成された旗図の原本にあたるオランダの資料を参照する必要があるという次年度に向けた課題が見つかった。
