本研究は、議論の構造をオンラインツールで図解するクラスと手書きで図解するクラスに分けて実験授業を実施し、それぞれの強みと弱みを探るものである。本年度は実験授業の設計と試行にあてた。本研究の実験授業は、研究代表者が担当する教養教育科目として開講するものであり、実験に参加することを予め同意した学生だけが受講するわけではない。そのため、実験に参加しない学生も混在する状況で、いかに円滑なデータ収集を進めるか検討する必要があった。とりわけ検討を要したのは以下の2点である。いずれも実験を実施するための技術的な条件を検討したものであり、本研究の目的に直接関わるものではないが、次年度以降の準備を整えることはできたと考える。（1）本研究の実験授業は毎回ランダムで班編成をおこなうため、データ収集に対する同意も毎回取り直す必要があると判断した（学期を通して班編成を固定する場合は、包括的に同意を得る方式もありうるだろう）。試行錯誤の結果、以下の手順に落ち着いた。①入室時に番号札を引き、別途掲示する座席表にしたがって着席する（座席の位置で当日参加する班が決まる）。②出席の記録を付ける際、番号札の番号と実験参加の可否を報告する。③アイスブレイクの時間中に出席を整理し、全ての班員が実験参加の意思を示している班を特定する。④グループワークの開始前にデータ収集の対象となる班を発表し、誤りがないか確認する。（2）本研究の実験授業では、実験に参加しない学生も同じ教室でグループワークをおこなっており、録音環境は決して良好とはいえない。そこで、雑音が多い環境でも安定した品質の音声データを得るため、ICレコーダーの設定や配置を検討した。設定についてはある程度指向性を高める必要があること、配置については3人の班の方が（4人の班よりも）適切な位置で録音できることを確認した。
