The vision to which this research project contributes is to support designers in the targeted synthesis of complex products through the cross-level and cross-domain description and modeling of functions by means of generalized effective surface pairs (WFP) with the C&C² approach. The proposed research project makes an important contribution to this by enabling the applicability of the C&C² approach for designers. To this end, detailed explanatory models for self-excited clutch rupture and the cross-domain interactions occurring in this process will be developed through the concrete application of the C&C² approach in synthesis-oriented analysis using the example of self-excited clutch rupture. Designers will be able to use these models to influence the behavior of friction couples in a targeted manner through improved understanding of the interrelationships. To this end, the project aims to investigate the relationship between the normal force and the tangential force during the transmission of torque in the friction couple, considering complex interactions of the coupled shape and tribological influences, and to make these describable by means of suitable modeling. The aim is to extend the origin of the normal force modulation, which was modeled in two dimensions in the first project due to geometric deviations, by the third dimension and to model the friction pairing across domains, since the interactions in the friction pairings are not influenced exclusively by purely mechanical influencing factors. The insights gained for the cross-domain modeling of generalized WFPs with the C&C² approach will be used as a basis in further research projects to open up additional application areas for the modeling of interactions with the C&C² approach. In summary, the findings from the proposed project will enable the analysis of the influence of different design variables in construction on complex phenomena with strong and multiple interactions by identifying relevant WFP and influencing factors and describing interaction mechanisms. In addition, the quantifiability of the influencing parameters is improved and ways to process the models and measured data are developed. These findings support designers in the synthesis of new product generations through improved knowledge of interaction mechanisms and enable targeted influencing in derived variations including a justifiable behavior prediction.
