The Study on Materno-Infantile Vertical Transmission of ATLV in Human and Monkey

本研究的目的是评估ATLV从携带ATLV的妇女向其后代垂直传播的可能频率，并开发可能的预防垂直传播的方法。初步研究结果如下：1.孕妇ATLV携带率在冲绳县和岩手县分别达到6. 9%和5. 9%，而千叶县仅为0. 8%。岩手县400名6 ~ 90岁妇女进行了ATLA-Ab筛查，29例（7.3%）显示ATLA-Ab阳性。这些发现表明ATLV不仅在冲绳流行，而且在岩手县也流行。此外，随着年龄的增长，这一比例也呈现出一定的上升趋势，在12名80岁以上的妇女中，这一比例达到了33.3%。对49名有孕妇家族史的个体进行了ATLV-Ab检测，以探讨ATLV可能的家族聚集性。总阳性率为59.2%。尤其是母亲、祖母和兄弟姐妹的阳性率较高（80.0%、66.7%和68.4%），提示存在一定的垂直传播可能性。此外，即使在祖父和丈夫群体中也观察到高百分比（40.0%和42.9%），表明可能存在ATLV的性传播。9名携带者母亲所生的婴儿中，7名在其脐带血清中出现ATLA-Ab阳性。7例患儿ATLA-Ab滴度逐渐下降，但在前6个月内仍为阳性. 45例宫颈癌和30例卵巢癌患者均未检出ATLV携带者，提示ATLV携带状态与恶性肿瘤的发生无密切关系。

This study was done to evaluate the possible frequency of vertical trnasmission of ATLV from ATLV carrier women to their offspring and develop possible means for preventing the vertical transmission. The preliminary results are as follows:1. The ATLV carrier rates of pregnant women reached 6.9 and 5.9 % respectively in Okinawa and Iwate Prefectures, while the rate was only 0.8% in Chiba Prefecture. And four hundred women ranging 6 - 90 years old in Iwate Prefecture were screened for ATLA-Ab and 29 (7.3%) revealed ATLA-Ab positive. These findings indicate ATLV is epidemic not only in Okinawa but also in Iwate Prefecture. In addition, the percentages showed a certain trend to increase with increased ages, reaching 33.3% in 12 women beyond 80 years old.2. The 49 individuals with a pregnant woman as a familial member were tested for ATLV-Ab to investigate the possible familial clustering of ATLV. In total, the positive rate was 59.2 %. In particular, the groups of mother, grandmother and siblings revealed high positive rates (80.0, 66.7 and 68.4%), suggesting a certain possibility of vertical transmission. Furthermore, the high percentages were observed even in the groups of grandfather and husband (40.0 and 42.9 %), indicating the possible sexual transmission of ATLV.3. Of 9 infants born to carrier mothers, seven developed ATLA-Ab positive in their umbilical cord sera. The titers of ATLA-Ab decreased gradually, but remained positive during the first 6 months in these 7 infants.4. There were no ATLV carriers in the 45 patients with uterine cervical cancer and 30 cases with ovarian cancers, which indicates no intimate correlation between ATLV carrier-state and development of malignant neoplasms.
