(1) 本年度は, 「研究実施計画」に従い, ロスアンゼルス五輪以降のIOCを中心とした「国際スポーツイメンド機構」の構造, 機能, 基本理念の新たな展開=再編の過程を分析した. 以下, その要点を記す.第1.IOC内には, イベントの理念をめぐり, アマチュアスポーツ理念を遵守しようとするものとプロを含む実質的な「総合世界選手権大会」化をもくろむものが存在し, 後者が多数派.第2.1984年のロスアンゼル大会以降, オリンピックは収益性を有するイベントに転化し, この傾向は, ソウル大会にむけてさらに加速しつつある. イベントのビジネス化に関する両大会の組織的差異は, 前者では大会組織委員会のみがコミットしたのに対し, 後者では, IOC体制の財政的基盤の「確保」にむけ, IOC自らがビジネス・プログラムのリーダーシップを取っていることにある. 第3.今日の狭義の国際スポーツイベント機構は選手, 国際・国内スポーツ組織, 大会組織委, マスコミ, ISL等のコーディネーター, 協賛企業, 観衆=視聴者=消費者によって構成される.(2) 昭和61年度在外研究帰国者(上野卓郎)および63年度在外研究予定者(早川武彦)が中心となり, スポーツの国際化に関する歴史認識を深める作業として, 1920〜30年代の国際労働者スポーツ組織の展開に関する史料分析および理論的検討に従事した. 以下, その要点を記す.真のスポーツの国際的交流は, 国際組織を媒介として, 諸国家・諸民族が自らの固有性を相対比しつつ, スポーツの普遍的価値実現のために共同して貢献することである. スポーツ至上主義や政治主義, 大国主義や自国至上主義の生成とその克服の歴史的条件を究明する必要がある.(3) 昭和62年度在外研究員(唐木国彦)が, 国際スポーツ組織に関する資料収集に従事した.
