项目摘要

本研究の課題は, 昭和恐慌期における鉄鋼諸資本の存在形態を確定することにあるが, 同時に恐慌回復過程で成立する「官民製鉄合同」(日本製鉄株式会社設立)の前提条件の究明をも企図したものである. 本研究は, 従来から次の二つの方向で進められた. 第1の方向は, 昭和恐慌の実態を鉄鋼業全般について検討するという方向であり, 第2の方向は, 鉄鋼諸資本の経営状況に関する実証な検討を行いつつ, 資本蓄積の分析をふまえた鉄鋼諸資本の類型化を試みるという方向であった.昭和62年度は, 主として第2の方向の作業に向けられた. 即ち, 従来から収集整理してきた主要鉄鋼会社の営業報告書類, 社史編等資料類の検討作業を継続・深化させ, 補助作業員の協力も得て, 計数整理作業も進めた. 主要鉄鋼会社の分析結果は, 一部についてはすでにまとめた. たとえば, 半官半民の植民地開発会社の満鉄・鞍山製鉄所については, 原料資源条件と製鉄技術との関連を中心的視角として考察し, 茨城大学『政経学会雑誌』に発表した後, 東京大学出版会から刊行中の国連大学叢書中の一冊に加えられることになっている(既に原稿提出済み). また, 官営の八幡製鉄所については, 「製鉄所特別会計」のもとでの同社の経営状態を生産費分析を中心にほゞまとめ終った(近日中に校了の上大学の紀要類に投稿予定). また, 何所の経営史は分析については, 立地条件との関連でも, 近いうちにまとめる計画である. さらに, 主要鉄鋼会社を全体として4つのグループに類型化して, 「製鉄合同」論を念頭に置きつつ分析する作業も, 当初予定ではこの2・3月中に一応けりをつける予定でいたが, 入学試験関係の仕事をはじめとした大学行政に追われ, かなり遅れてしまった. こうした積み残しの作業については, 4月以降のできるだけ早い時期に終らせるべく, 努力いたす所存である.
