项目摘要

数学の各分野に現われる指数和は, 定性的側面と定量的側面とを併せもつが, 本研究では特に次の点(1)一変数指数和の有限部分の評価(2)群上の調和解析における指数和とその役割について, 応用面を常に考慮しながら考察した. その結果, 例えば古くから経験的に知られていた, いわゆるBenfordの規則に対しての1つの数学的解釈を与えることができ, かつその新らしい例をも従来のものと比較しつつ構成することができた. そこでは, 一変数の指数和の有限部分の評価の1つの応用として, ある幾つかの数列について評価することに帰着させた.一方, 指数和の一般化の1つとして, 群上での三角級数を考慮することによって, 一変数の古典理論のアナロジーを得ることもできる. そこで過程より, タウバー型定理からも示唆される. 一種のフーリエ変換のもつ大きさの評価の問題に当たり, それを解決した. また, エルゴード理論におけるヒルベルト変換についても同様の考察を行ない, 必要十分な条件を与える問題を考察した.
