本研究は、ルネッサンス期イタリア建築を特徴づける各種の建築オーダーの体系的分析と分類に関するもので、特に初期ルネッサンスの作例を中心として比較研究を行った。基礎資料の収集、整理に予想以上の時間がかかり、研究上の効率は必ずしも良いものではなかったが、年度後半には多くの作例を画像情報としてパーソナル・コンピューター上で作動するデータ・ベースに入力し、CADのソフトウェアを援用して、従来は試みられたことのない各作例相互の詳しい比較・分析作業を進めることができた。当初の研究計画としては、中期ルネッサンスのきわめて豊富な作例をも対象に含め、初期から中期にいたるオーダー変遷にこれまでにはみられなかった新しい視点を提供する予定であったが、初期ルネッサンスの作例、特にブルネッレスキ、ミケロッツォ、フィラレーテ、アルベルティの建築オーダーを整理してゆくなかで、それらと、それに先行するビザンティン建築の関係に大きな興味がもたれるようになった。初期ルネッサンス建築の空間構成に、例えばビザンティンの教会堂建築の影響がみられることはこれまでもすでに指摘されているが、特に建築オーダーに関して両者の関連を考察した論考はほとんどなく、この点をある具体的な作例にそって明らかにすることはきわめて学問的意義が高いと思われる。従って、年度後半は特にビザンティン様式の建築オーダーと初期ルネッサンス期の作例との関係を調べ、巻き草紋、ヴォリュート、盃形などの詳細を比較した。特にブルネッレスキ、フィラレーテ、フランチェスコ・ディ・ジョルジョ・マルティーニ、ジュリアーノ・ダ・サンガッロの建築オーダーについては現在個別に成果をとりまとめており、論文として公表する予定である。
