漫才を中心とする話芸とテレビドラマの会話の分析によって,以下のことが明らかになった。[1]ある言語表現が,聞き手に対して何らかの言語的反応(広義応答)を要求ないし期待するというのは,なにも質問(回答要求)表現に限ったことではない。聞き手に対する積極的な働きかけの意志を帯びた表現は,以下の13種に分類することができるが,(1)命令,(2)禁止,(3)要求,(4)依頼,(5)質問,(6)相手状況評価,(7)訴え,(8)注意喚起・教え,(9)宣言・宣告,(10)同意確認,(11)勧誘,(12)あいさつ,(13)呼びかけこのすべての種類の言語的働きかけに対して,聞き手はまず言語によって反応することが普通である。この中には,聞き手の言語的反応が,聞き手の反応の中心である場合から,反応の前ぶれ的一部分である場合(命令に対する応諾など)までの幅があり,また,無言による応答という場合さえあるが,概括すれば,上記13種類の言語的働きかけは,すべて,広義応答(言語的反応)を要求,ないし期待するものだと言える。[2]上記のほかに,(つまり聞き手に対する働きかけの発話でなくても)ディスコ-スの中で,聞き手が黙っていられなくなるようにしむけるという種類の発話ー反応の型が見られる。(1)長い発話を「ネ」で切って、そこまでの聞き手の理解を確認する.(2)意外な内容を唐突に持ち出して,聞き手からの説明催促,質問などを誘い出す.(3)話し手の困惑,喜びなどの情動を表明して,聞き手の反応を誘う。(4)判断や意志決定をめぐる躊躇・逡巡を表明して,相手の援助の発言を誘い出す.これらの発話も、広義応答(言語的反応)を要求するものと言える。
