被験者として無歯顎患者20名(下顎歯槽堤の良好な者7名,中等度の者7名および不良な者6名)を選び,各患者についてモデリング・コンパウンドおよびアルギン酸印象材を用いた2種類の印象を採得した(以下夫々をコンパウンド印象,アルギン酸印象という)。すべての印象は20年以上の臨床経験をもつ同一の歯科医師が採得した。各印象法による模型の印象面を左右に2分し,各半側を前歯部唇側域前歯部舌側域,臼歯部頬側域および臼歯部舌側域に区分して印象面全体を8区域に区分した。次いでパ-ソナル・コンピュ-タ-を用いた二次元面像解析装置を使用して,印象面の各区域の仮想咬合平面に対する投影面積の測定を行なった。さらに,模型を仮想咬合平面に対して垂直に1.5mm間隔で前頭断し,パ-ソナル・コンピュ-タを用いた三次元画像解析装置を使用して印象面の各区域の表面積の測定を行なった。これらの各面積と印象区域および歯槽堤の高さとの相関について検討を加え,以下の結果を得た。印象の投影面積と表面積は,いずれも同様の傾向を示した。いずれの区域においても,アルギン酸印象の面積に対するコンパウンド 象の面積の比率は臼歯部舌側域で最も大きく,歯槽提の高さが中等度および低い場合には他の区域における比率との間に有意差が認められた。また,この面積の比率が他の印象区域との間に有意差を示す区域の数は,歯槽提の高さが低い場合が最も多く,中等度の場合,高い場合の順に減少した。

20 patients (7 good, 7 moderate and 6 poor) with or without dentures were selected. Two types of impressions were obtained from each patient. The impression of more than 20 years of clinical experience is acquired by the same dentist. The impression plane of each impression method is divided into two parts, each half of which is divided into the labial area of the anterior dentition, the buccal area of the acetabular dentition and the lingual area of the acetabular dentition. The projection area of each region of the impression plane is measured by using a quadratic image analyzer. In addition, the surface area of each region of the impression plane was measured using a three-dimensional image analyzer. The following results were obtained from the correlation between the area and the height of the groove. The projected area of the impression and the surface area are opposite, and the same tendency is indicated. The ratio of the area of the tooth groove to the area of the tongue is the largest in the middle of the tooth groove, and the ratio of the area of the tooth groove to the area of the other area is the largest in the middle of the tooth groove. The ratio of the area to the other impression area is the highest in the low, middle and high case, and the ratio of the area to the other impression area is the highest in the middle and low case.
