In the present research, new electron spectroscopic techniques have been developed for verious molecular systems including clusters ; (1) Collision Energy Resolved Penning Ionization Electron Spectroscopy (CERPIES), (2) measurements for Collision Energy Dependence of Partial Penning Ionization Cross Sections (CEDPICS), (3) Two-Dimensional Penning Ionization Electron Spectroscopy (2D-PIES), (4) Time-Correlation Penning Ionzation Electron Spectroscopy (TCPIES), and (5) Laser-Desorption Penning Ionization Electron Spectroscopy (LDPIES). In the last year of the term of the project, 2DPIES,TCPIES,and LDPIES were developed.The 2DPIES system including an order-made electronic system was constructed and the observation of 2DPIES was made for the first time.The TCPIES technique using a cross-correration time-of-flight method was developed. Sensitivity of signal detection for velocity resolved Penning electron spectroscopy was improved by a factor of ca.10-30.The LDPIES method was developed for observing PIES of low-volatile samples of little amount in a short time without thermal decomposition.
