近年における新技術の発達は社会的に大きな影響を及ぼしている。経営学においては、とりわけそれは企業組織や職務内容への影響として様々な視角から論じられており、それらは主として、新技術の否定的側面を強調する「労働過程論アプローチ」と、逆にその肯定的側面を強調する「職務設計論アプローチ」及び「社会技術システム論的アプローチ」の2つに大別される。最新の文献・論文のレビューの結果、なおこの2つのアプローチを根本的に越えうるような分析枠組が未だ提起されていない点が明らかとなった。それゆえ、このような従来の分析枠組の大まかな論理構造上の概要を把握し得たことが、本研究の第一の研究成果である。この論理把握を基礎として次に検討された点は、自らのアプローチを以下に設定するべきかという点である。結論的にいうと、従来の分析枠組がいずれも企業組織構造への着目をあまり重視していなかったことから、自らのアプローチを「組織設計論的アプローチ」と名付け、企業の組織構造(とりわけ「組織調整方式」)を、技術と職務の間を媒介する連結環と位置付けて重点的に考察してゆくこととした。従って、このような「組織設計論的アプローチ」という自らの分析枠組を設定し得たことが、本研究における第二の研究成果である。この「組織設計論的アプローチ」が現実的に有効性をもちうる分析枠組であることが、別途実施されたプロジェクト(筆者も一員)によるアンケート調査の結果から明らかとなった。新技術の革新によって新たに設計・形成された組織構造が、従来の大量生産技術システム下における組織構造と根本的に異なっており、しかもこれらの組織構造の相違によって従業員の職務内容も統計的有意に異なりうることが明らかにされたのである。それゆえ、この組織設計論的アプローチの現実的妥当性を明らかにし得た点が、本研究の第三の研究成果である。
