项目摘要

1997年度は、昨年度末の「基礎集計表」の発行を受けて、研究班に分かれて分析・研究を続行し、8月のカナダ・ケベック市での国際会議、および1998年1月の台湾・台北市での国際会議における研究発表のほか、国内の各種の学会で研究発表を行った。さらに、研究の集大成として、総計180本以上の研究論文からなる全21巻の報告書を作成した。そのリストは次の通り。1.『社会階層・移動の基礎分析と国際比較』,2.『近代日本の移動と階層:1896-1995』,3『社会移動とキャリア分析』,4.『社会階層の地域的構造』,5.『職業評価の構造と職業威信スコア』,6.『現代日本の階層意識』,7.『政治意識の現在』,8.『公平感と社会階層』,9.『教育機会の構造』,10.『教育と世代間移動』,11.『教育と職業-構造と意識の分析』,12.『女性のキャリア構造とその変化』,13.『ジェンダーとライフコース』,14.『ジェンダーと階層意識』,15.『階層と結婚・家族』,16.『豊かさと格差』,17.『社会階層とライフスタイル』,18.『文化と社会階層』,19.『東アジアの階層比較』,20.『社会階層の新次元を求めて』,21.『産業化と階層変動』多くの新しい知見がえられたが、そのごく一部を記す。(1)55年データの職歴を用いて戦前における世代間移動を計算してみると、途中、戦争による一次的な変動はあるものの1915年から95年の長期にわたって、世代間移動のパターンは驚くほど安定している。(2)職業威信の構造も、55、75、95の3時点で安定性が極めて高い。(3)階層と政治的態度との関連は弱いながら継続しており、達成目標のスケールという近代社会の特性は維持されている。補助金の交付は終了するが、今後もさらに研究を継続し、成果を広く公表していく予定。
