3歳から6歳までの幼稚園での自発的に生成されるごっこ遊びの観察から以下の2点が明らかになった。1.他者を演じる行為は、加齢に伴い、相手に明示的に表現されるようになった。2.1.の結果として、加齢に伴い、誰を、あるいは、何を演じているかについての子ども同士の了解がとれるようになった。しかし、このことは、必ずしも、遊びの中でのコミュニケーションが円滑に行われるよう担ったことを意味せず、互いの意図の調整のために費やされる時間の増加を導いた。しかし、意図の調整が一旦できると、年少児と比し年長児は、継続時間は長く、構造的にも複雑な遊びを展開するようになった。ごっこ遊びでの役割を演じる前後での他者理解の評定についての実験から以下のことが明らかになった。1.ごっこ遊びを演じることそれ自体によって、即座に他者理解が深まるという結果は見出せなかった。この結果から、他者理解の評価尺度の適正性の検討、演じる内容の種類の特定化の必要性が明らかになった。観察場面と実験場面での比較から以下のことが明らかになった。1.観察場面でのごっこ遊びの継続時間の長さと、実験場面での他者理解の評価との間に有意な相関が見られた。このことは、長期的に考えた場合、ごっこ遊びが他者理解を促進されている可能性が示唆していると考えられる。他者理解の評価法の検討を行った上で、ごっこ遊び以外の媒体での他者理解の促進効果について検討することを次の課題とする。
