今年度の研究成果,および今後の研究課題について報告する。1.太平洋戦争後に我が国で出版された「戦記もの」の収集と分析(1)所謂「戦記もの」には,大きく言って二つの波がある。戦後,間もなくから1960年代にかけて出版されたものと,1980年代に主に「戦史刊行会」から出版されたものである。前者は,復員後の日本兵士達が,戦後の動乱の中で戦争体験を綴ったもので,その記憶も新しく生々しい表現が多い。メラネシア住民にたいする言及も少なくない。しかし,「無知蒙昧」な「土人たち」を哀れむ表現が比較的目につく。それにたいし,後者は,戦後30年以上もの歳月を経て,経済的高度成長を果たした時期になって,戦争体験を再構成したものである。前者と比較して,メラネシア住民にたいする言及も数を増す。その描きかたは,端的に言って,好意的である。戦争にたいする内省も見られるし,戦場となった地域住民にたいする反省や詫びの表現も見られる。(2)この背景には,個人の戦争体験の在り方の差や時間的心境の変化と共に,時代的な変化,特に,我が国における戦争の位置付け・世論の変化が影響をあたえていることが推測される。そこで,戦争中,メラネシア地域に関してどのような情報が一般的に流布されていたのか,それを探るために,戦時中,我が国で出版されていた「メラネシア・南方関係書物」の収集を現在行っている。2.民族誌との関連付けメラネシア人は,外部社会にたいして,かれらなりの枠組みを持って理解している。それを,世界観として人類学は従来から位置付けてきた。戦争もまた,当該社会の中で何等かの形を与えられている。しかし,日本兵達も我々研究者も当該社会の枠組みを用いて,それを理解しようとはしていない。その成果は,業績の(1)である。
