项目摘要

2022年度は、コロナ禍において実施が困難であった現地調査を実施した。その結果、以下のことが明らかとなった。1.　気候変動対応への現状把握　パプアニューギニアでは気候変動開発局が「気候変動の緩和と適応のための方針」を示しており、その一貫としてFAOは食糧の安定的供給を目指した開発計画を進めている。今年度は、東セピック州ウェワク地域において、その現状及び住民意識についての調査を実施した。代表者の川崎及び分担者の武藤は、FAOが設置計画を進めている浮魚礁について調査し、地区首長(local level government)がカウンターパートとなり島民との合意形成を図っている一方、島民からは経済振興のロードマップに対して懐疑的意見が出されていることが分かった。一方、分担者の豊田は、FAOが進めるサゴヤシの生産拡大計画に協力し、ウェワク地域周辺で調査を実施した。サゴの苗床を活用した量産方法に対して、住民は協力的であり強い関心を抱いていることが明らかとなった。2.　過去の環境変動による影響の把握　分担者の武田は、東ハイランド州のコーヒー生産者を対象に現地調査を行った。標高1,600m付近の村落では、2018年ころより天候不順による不作や病虫害被害が多発していた。他方、標高2,000m付近の村落では、2021年および2022年は過去にない豊作となっており、コーヒーの作付けを増やす生産者が出現していることが分かった。また分担者の新本は、州都ウェワク近郊の村では、2022年に高波によるマングローブ林被害を確認した。それによって甲殻類や魚などが減少し、住民の食料自給にも影響が及んでいた。ダグア地区では、2022年の大雨による大水で川の河口が拡大し、河口付近にあった家屋が解体され、別の土地に移築されていた事が分かった。これら研究成果については、関係学会等でする予定である。
