A Case Study of UTAGOE Movement in Miyagi Prefecture

As UTAGOE (Sining Voice of Japan) movement is called Japanese peculiar mass movement, I tried a case study in Miyagi Prefecture. I gave an overview of a history of UTAGOE movement of Miyagi that continues more than 40 years from the end of the World War II.It is Sendai Chorus Circle to become the center of the regional movement. I arranged data kept by the Tohoku Ongaku Center in Sendai City. And I investigated an interview for many members of Sendai Chorus Circle and collected data as they hold. A history of the mass movement that Sendai Chorus Circle advanced over 40 years is distributed into five times. 1st term : maneuver party activity of proletarian youthful campaign. 2nd term : time that a special being engaged person of an organic activity exists. 3rd term : time that makes UTAGOE movement as a musical movement. 4th term : time to appear contradiction of creative activity and organization making a popularization. 5th term : current activity. A change of these personalities was caused by a time of "retreat" of a conventional campaign style. When a new form was invented for the purpose of an advance of a campaign, new leaders were also invented. Therefore, at a historic analysis of a regional UTAGOE movement, I showed that a change of circle's structure and members' personality simultaneously must be examined. Further, I proved that a change of a personality of Sendai Chorus Circle (center of the organization of the campaign) is continuously caused by means of a relation with the exterior. By means of a claim with the exterior, an advance of a campaign of Sendai Chorus Circle is ruled. And the chorus circle to become the center of the campaign must learn a regional form of movement, therfore it is necessary for Sendai Chorus Circle to re-compose the regional area and participate in forming a resident autonomy.
