本研究は、教師が構成する教室談話の談話連続のパターンを検証するとともに、そのパターンが日本語学習者のコミュニケーション能力の習得においてどのように影響を与えているかを実証研究するものである。研究費が交付された平成7年度においては、関係文献の収集,データ収集,データのベース化の一部、教師の談話連続パターンの分析と以前のデータの再分析と比較が行われた。その結果、教師の談話連続のパターンはSinclair and Couthard(1975)の談話分析モデルが適当なことが確かめられ、さらに以下の様な新知見があった。1.談話構造に基づく教授ストラテジーの存在Sinclair and Coulthard(1975)では教室談話は5つのレベルからなる階層的な構造、lesson、transaction、exchange、move、actというをもっている。談話連続におけるコアとサポートの区別はtransactionのレベルにおける教授ストラテジーであった。今回の調査では上の階層(レベル)ごとに教授ストラテジーは区別できることが示された。教師による授業への学習者の参加促進ストラテジー、学習者の発話理解および発話促進ストラテジー(exchangeレベル)、学習者の理解を助けるための教師自身の発話ストラテジー(moveおよびactレベル)などが同定された。2.Transactionレベルでの談話連続パターンコア、サポートに加えて、導入活動は、その始めと終わりにboundary exchange、directive exchange、informative exchangeなどからなる開始部と終結部を持つ傾向のあることが明らかになった。これらの発話連続パターンと教授ストラテジーが学習者側のコミュニケーション能力にどのように影響を与えているかを分析するのが次年度以降の課題である。
