本研究の目的は、平安・鎌倉時代の漢字音のうち漢音の実態を整理することであった。この目的の達成のために、次のことをおこなった。1.本研究の対象となる資料を、現在公刊されている目録類によって確認した。2.複製本の形で公刊されているものを購入した。また、写真撮影の許可が得られた資料の写真を購入した。3.原本の閲覧が許される図書館・文庫・寺社等に原本閲覧調査に出向いた。4.その結果得られた加点例を、中国音韻の体系に基づき韻別・漢字別に整理した。5.その際、どの様なコンテキストの中でその音で読まれていたのかを知り得るようにした。平安・鎌倉時代の漢音資料は多種・多様であり、一年の研究でその総てを記述しきれるものではない。本年度は、訓点資料の漢字音の調査・整理を試みた。大量の漢字音資料の整理にはコンピュータを利用した。その整理に際して、当該音がどの様な文脈で使用されているかという観点を導入した。この点が従来の研究で最も欠けていたところである。本年度発表した研究成果は、資料の調査・整理の結果の一部である。本年度の研究を通して、以下の点が明らかになった。1.同一時期の日本漢音とはいっても、その様相はさまざまである。2.日本漢音は、日本に伝来以来、日本独自の変化をした。3.その変化は、和語、呉音との音韻変化であり日本語化であるといえる。4.よって、日本漢字音の整理にあたって、どの様なコンテキストの中での音であるのかを考慮に入れることが重要である。具体例・詳細は「11.研究発表」に記した論文のなかで述べた。
