(1)研究の基礎資料として、西日本を対照とした古墳時代土器の資料を検索・整理し、実測図については、縮尺を1:4に統一したうえで、A4サイズのカードを作成した。作業は、特に西日本に移動する畿内系土器のありかたに焦点を絞っておこなった。この資料にもとづいて、次の(2)の作業をすすめた。(2)以下の諸研究機関に赴き、( )内記載の各遺跡出土土器資料の観察をおこない、実測等のデータ収集をおこなった。この作業の結果から、畿内系土器の西方への展開の状況とそのルートなどを考察する基礎資料を得た。(財)広島県埋蔵文化財調査センター(神辺御領遺跡・大宮遺跡・備後国府遺跡・山居遺跡・竜王堂遺跡・横見廃寺遺跡)、広島県尾道市教育委員会(満越遺跡)、鳥取県米子市教育委員会(尾高城遺跡・米子城遺跡)、島根県鹿島町教育委員会(南講武草田遺跡)、(財)愛媛県埋蔵文化財調査センター(宮前川遺跡)、(財)大阪府文化財調査研究センター(下田遺跡)、福井県教育庁埋蔵文化財調査センター(長泉寺遺跡・上河北遺跡)(3)土器の産地同定のための基礎資料として、合計76点の試料をサンプリングし、岩石学的分析をおこなうための透過光検鏡試片(偏光顕微鏡観察を目的とするプレパラート)を、日本地科学社に委嘱して作成した。試料は、奈良盆地中南部・飛鳥藤原地域出土の古墳時代土器を中心に選択し、土器については、これに生産地系統の判明している飛鳥時代土器を加えた。また、奈良盆地の中での、胎土の違いを読みとるために、生産された窯の判明している藤原宮所用軒瓦についても、同様の手続きで試料を作成した。

The sample was collected from the center of the ancient tomb period earth tool unearthed in the central and southern parts of the Nara Basin, and the earth tool was collected from the center of the production area. In addition, the test materials for the Nara Basin, the soil, the production, and the determination of the Fujiwara Palace were prepared.
