项目摘要

民族・言語・文化的錯綜体として、ヨーロッパのひとつのミニチュアとも言われるベルギーの分化の歩みを、文学・芸術雑誌を資料体として辿る試みをした。特に象徴主義・幻想芸術・シュールレアリスムが他国へも大きな影響を与えた19世紀末から20世紀にかけての時代に雑誌は急増し、分化・思想の中心的な担い手となったからである。具体的には次のようなことを行った。1.パソコンと、ベルギーの言語・芸術関係図書を購入し、これら文献の検討と整理を行なった。またベルギー象徴主義・前衛雑誌のバックナンバー及びマイクロフィルムを可能なかぎり入手した。2.ほとんど未開拓分野である研究の序説として、1830年の国家独立から現在に至までの雑誌の歴史、「小国」にとっての雑誌の意義と重要性を確認し、論文として発表した。象徴派の二大雑誌「若きベルギー」誌と「ワロニ-」誌全巻の検討に着手している。これらの成果を通じ、「国家」的分化に対する意識と地域主義・個人主義の葛藤や変化が見られるか、またベルギーでの文化活動がフランスやオランダ、さらにはドイツといった「大国」とどのように関わってきたかを考察する。最終的にはこの国の文化状況のヨーロッパ内における位置付けと展望を総括したいと思う
