ABSTRACT我々は有機溶剤吸引者の反社会的行動に関わる要因を調べるために、2つの児童福祉施設に入所中の有機溶剤吸引少年75名に対する調査を行った。吸引頻度の高い者ほど、暴力行動、暴走、家出が多く認められた。そこで暴力行動に注目し、対象を、暴力行動を生じないNo-violence group、吸引開始以降に暴力行動を生じたLate-onset group、吸引開始以前から暴力行動を生じていたEarly-onset groupの3グループに分類し、そのグループ間で種々の項目を比較した。その結果、Late-onset groupは、1)吸引頻度が高く、吸引による幻覚、気分変化を生じる者が多い、2)葛藤が強い家族環境を持つ、3)心理的葛藤が強く、衝動的で、欲求不満に対して解離的処理を行う、という特徴を示した。このgroupの暴力は、家庭の葛藤を背景に、心理学的葛藤や解離の機制が薬物の薬理的効果と結びついて生じていた。一方、Early-onset groupは、吸引頻度が低く、精神症状も少ないため、その暴力は元来の暴力的傾向の表れと考えられた。このグループでは、心理学的葛藤を自覚することが少なく、欲求不満に対して自己中心的に他者に要求的になる傾向を認め、前者とは大きく異なる心理機制を持っていた。有機溶剤乱用者の暴力については、これら2つのタイプの暴力の分類を見極め、それに応じた対処をとるべきであることを示した。
