Transnational Network of Vietmanese residents in Japan

目前，已有1万多名越南人在日本定居。他们中的很大一部分人自1975年以来以难民身份来到日本。本研究旨在掌握他们在包括越南在内的不同国家的越南人中的跨国网络。本研究以实地调研资料为基础，通过深度访谈和参与式观察，重点考察了1998年的宗教网络和1999年的家庭网络与生活。结果发现，他们的宗教在帮助越南人发展他们的社区方面产生了影响，与留在本国和世界其他地区的家庭成员保持着全球网络。研究还发现，在日本长大的越南年轻人将家庭网络作为他们的生活策略，他们的家庭网络对他们的民族认同意识产生了影响。最后，根据这项研究的结果，提出了考虑越南语和日语之间关系的重要性。

At present over 10,000 Vietnamese have been settled in Japan. A large part of them came to Japan as refugees since 1975. This research aims to grasp their transnational network among the Vietnamese who are living in different countries including Vietnam. The research, based on field research materials collected through in depth interviews and participant observations, focuses on their religious network in 1998, and family network and their life in 1999. As a result, it was found that their religion has been influential in assisting the Vietnamese in developing their community, maintaining a global network with family members who stay behind in their home country and in other parts of the world. It was also discovered that young Vietnamese who have been brought up in Japan use their family network for their life strategies, and their family network has been influential in their consciousness of ethnic identity. Finally, how important it is to consider the relationship between Vietnamese and Japanese based on the result of this research was suggested.
