In most metropolitan areas, rapid urbanization has caused uncontrolled sprawl, farmland loss and deteriorated natural characteristics and visual quality. Firstly the study showed relationship between decrease of farmland and increase of urban land uses and related factors. Secondly some case studies using photographs of urban fringe showed the importance of feature of farmland, and spacious order, naturality and peculiarity were extracted as the common factors of urban fringe images. Further more, effect of a few forest types on the preference and the three factors were shown. Thirdly about the consciousness and evaluation of farmland, after the results of semantic differential method and cluster analysis of the factor scores, the four groups of the neighbors which have different attitudes regarding conservation and planning were identified. These are a group having an average consciousness, a group giving a higher priority to farms, a group thinking of farms as recreational use and a group thinks that farms offer food and other uses.It is concluded from the study that land use planners and managers will find it advantageous to identify the degree to which residents perceive multi-functions of farmland and the factors which influence their landscape preference.

在大多数大都市地区，迅速的城市化造成了无节制的扩张、农田损失以及自然特征和视觉质量的恶化。研究首先揭示了耕地减少与城市用地增加的关系及其影响因素。其次，通过对城市边缘区影像的实例分析，说明了农田特征的重要性，并提取了空间有序性、自然性和独特性作为城市边缘区影像的共性因子。此外，还研究了几种森林类型对这三个因子的影响。第三，在农地意识与评价方面，通过对因子得分的语义差异法和聚类分析，识别出对农地保护与规划持不同态度的四类邻居。这是一组具有平均意识，一组给予更高的优先级，一组的农场作为娱乐用途的思想和一组认为农场提供食品和其他用途的研究得出的结论是，土地利用规划者和管理者将发现它有利于确定的程度，居民认为农田的多功能和影响他们的景观偏好的因素。
