项目摘要

研究目的:1. 地域に留学生が主体的に参加していける活動の場の開拓と設定を行うこと。2. 留学生と日本人双方が、交流・協力を通して異なるものを認め理解し受け入れていく場としての、また、その過程を通して自己を発見し変容させていく場としてのボランティア活動の可能性を探り、その有効性について検証を試みること。平成11年度:1. 平成11年度に、長崎大学医学部付属病院のボランティア活動に参加した留学生は2名である。2. 同婦長から、外国人入院患者のための、留学生による看護婦や医師との会話の通訳ボランティアの依頼を受けた。協力できる留学生7名のリストを作成し、担当婦長に送付した。3. 7月10日に行われたシンポジウム「多文化共生in長崎」(主催:国立国語研究所・多文化共生in長崎実行委員会)の実行委員の一人として「留学生交流とボランティア」というタイトルで分科会を設け、地域住民と留学生とのボランティアを通じた双方向的な学習・交流の可能性について討議した。平成12年度:1.長崎大学医学部付属病院病棟でのボランティア活動の継続新規に2名の留学生がボランティアとして活動した。2.「お見舞い・通訳ボランティアリスト」実際の使用状況の連絡を受けながら、ボランティアの募集を継続して行った。3.「会話パートナープログラム」の活動内容再考このプログラムは留学生と日本人学生に出会いの場を提供し、相互理解を深めるために行っているものである。活動内容を再考し、留学生と日本人学生が協同で行うボランティア活動の可能性を検討した。この活動の中から、留学生と日本人学生による交流サークルが生まれ、活動している。4.周辺調査として、アメリカの大学でのボランティア活動への取り組みの状況についての情報および資料収集を行った。
