Industrial and Trade Structure of Asian Countries and their Economic Growth : Empirical Analysis Based on Long Term Statistics

We got the following three major outputs from our project.1. We compiled database on trade and industrial structure of Asian countries. Using trade data we analyzed factor contents in Asian countries' trade in the last four decades. Using industrial data we also estimated equilibrium exchange rates for these countries.2. We compiled Japan's Industrial Database (JIP Database) which will be published from Economic and Social Research Institute, Cabinet Office. Using this database we have estimated total factor productivity growth in 84 industries.3. We compiles regional data of China and the Philippines. Using the data on China we estimated determinants of pollution level among provinces. Using the data on the Philippines we estimated convergence equation of percapita income. Using firm-level data based on our own field survey in Malaysia, we conducted case study on how plastic industry in Malaysia have developed overtime.
