看護者が、治療を受けたがん患者のコントロール感覚をどのように捉え、看護を提供しているかを明らかにし、さらにがん患者のコントロール感覚を支える看護援助に関しての課題を明らかにするために、以下のことを行った。まず、昨年度のインタビューの結果を踏まえて、インタビューガイドの見直しを行い、看護者が捉えるがん患者のコントロール感覚と提供している看護を明らかにするためのインタビューガイドを作成した。そして、がん看護に3年以上携わっており、経験年数5年以上の看護職者に対して個別に半構成的な面接を行った。データの逐語録を作成し、看護者が捉えているがん患者のコントロール感覚、および提供している看護に関係する内容を抽出して分析を行った。看護者は、がん患者が自分のペースで自分らしく闘病できることが力を発揮できることにつながると捉えており、患者のその人らしさを理解し、その人のペースを守るために、看護の基本的な技術を駆使しようと奮闘していた。さらに、患者とともに目標を共有すること、目標に向かって患者とともに取り組む姿勢が重要であると認識していることが明らかになった。一方で患者が力を発揮できるような関わりができていないと感じている看護者も多く、自分自身の行っている看護に自信が持てない現状が浮き彫りにされた。がん患者のコントロール感覚を支える看護援助を明確にしていくためには、看護者自身が行っている看護を振り返り、患者にとってもたらす意味や効果を考える機会を作り出していくことが重要であろう。
