项目摘要

今年度の研究の主要な成果は、プラトンの後期対話編である『ピレボス』の前半部分において対話全体の鍵となる存在論的構造が示されているが、その箇所について従来の解釈の誤りを指摘し、新しいよりテクストに整合的な解釈を提示したこと、そしてまたそのように解釈することによって、プラトンの初期から後期にわたる生成する世界(自然世界)の価値について一貫した理論を読み取ることができることを明らかにしたことである。この理論によると、すべての生成する事物には、それを対象とする知識・技術が存在しており、知識・技術が事物を調和状態にもたらすことによって、自然世界における客観的な価値を成立させる。この研究成果は、特に近年活発に議論されている環境倫理学における自然世界の価値についての考察と比較することによって興味深い示唆が得られることから、前半を現代の環境倫理学における議論の概観、後半をプラトンの理論の考察として一つの論文にまとめ上げた。現代の環境倫理学に広くみられる、環境問題の起源は「自然世界の価値は人間が利用できるかぎりで存在する」という思考にあるという主張は、プラトンの自然世界の理論と近い方向を進んでいると言えるだろう。また、論文には収録していないが、口頭発表において、(とくに後期対話編『法律』で議論される)プラトンの自然の価値の理論が内包する宇宙観についても考察を行った。ここでは、プラトンがすべての生成する事物に知識・技術の作用を認めていることは、単に神による世界創造という神話を信じていたという理由によるのではなく、生命現象の自発的な運動というものに注目し、すべての原因は生命現象以外にありえないという理論的な動機にもとづいていることを論じた。この考察はさらに分析を加えたうえで別の論文として纏めあげる予定である。
