本年度は、室町幕府と在地領主との関係をみるなかから、その所領の存在形態と政治的活動が、在地領主の横の結合形態である「同名中」内における家格秩序に反映されている点を明らかにし、幕府内においても室町幕府に仕えた女房の存在形態に迫る研究を中心に行った。次の3点を公表した。(1)「近江国佐々木越中氏と西佐々木同名中」は、近江国湖西の在地領主佐々木越中氏について、交通・流通支配に関わり経済基盤を整え、15世紀半ばに天台系寺院を占拠し、居城としてゆく姿を明らかにし、「西佐々木同名中」の中核的存在として滅亡に至るまでの経緯を解明した。次いで(2)「戦国末期室町幕府女房所領に関する一史料」では、その存在すら明確でない幕府女房について、滋賀県朽木家が所蔵する未公開史料から、内々の申次機能をもつ女房には、寄進された所領も多くあったのではないかと、その経済基盤について新知見を加えた。(3)「書評 湯浅治久著『中世後期の地域と在地領主』」では、中世後期の地域社会と、そのなかで様々な矛盾を抱えながら成長してゆく在地領主の実態を考察した湯浅治久氏の著書について、在地領主財政・同名中・幕府公権との関わりなどの視点から書評を行った。また、本年度も前年度に引き続き滋賀県の朽木家へ度々訪問し、史料の現状を調査し、写真撮影や翻刻のための細部の確認などを行った。江戸初期までのものを、続群書類従完成会から近く刊行する予定である。さらに現在、「西佐々木七氏の所領と序列-同名中内序列の形成と変動-」と題する論考を作成中である。室町〜戦国期に近江湖西地方で「西佐々木同名中」を形成した、佐々木越中・田中・朽木・永田・能登・横山・山崎の七氏について、政治・経済・軍事等諸側面から分析を加え、同名中内には序列があり、それは血統・所領・財政状況・将軍との親疎がその序列に反映されている点を明らかにした。
