项目摘要

本年度は中国国民党が発動・推進した新生活運動(一九三四年〜一九四九年)が、当時の中国社会において持った意味にその思想・文化的側面を、「身体美学」・「公共意識」を鍵概念として分析することに重点を置いた。その結果、以下の様なことが明らかになった。新生活運動が発動された背景として、この運動の主唱者であった蒋介石や、その先駆者である孫文といった中国国民党の指導者達が、中国社会における人々の日常生活の負の側面、特に挙止動作・礼儀作法の問題点を批判し改善を試みた。即ち、中国人の日常的な衣・食・住・行の様々な立ち居振る舞いが、西洋人や日本人の驚愕・困惑・侮蔑の対象となり、それが列強諸国による中国への圧迫を許すことにつながっていると考えられ、故に中国人の身体の美観を改善することにより、延いては中国の国際的地位をも向上させることが図られたのである。新生活運動において具体的に唱えられた九十五項目は、(一)自己の身体、(二)他者との関係、(三)周囲の環境、(四)公共の場所において、規律と清潔とを実現することを目指すものであった。即ち、自己の身体の自然的欲求ではなく他者の目から見た人為的秩序としての身体美学に基き、精神が肉体を管理・統制・保護すると共に、親族・隣人・友人のみならず全ての他者を共同体を構成する仲間と見做して、社会全体の秩序と調和とを維持することにより、私的・公的空間において規律と清潔とを実現すべきことが説かれたのである。これは、近代西洋において発達した礼儀作法の模倣・導入を図るものであり、『儀礼』に代表される伝統中国の身体美学とは根本的に異っており、その来源は精神-身体関係や個人-社会関係に対する、近代西洋思想と伝統中国思想との相違に在る。総じて言えば、新生活運動は中国人が自己の身体意識を改変し、西洋人に倣ってその近代的な身体美学・公共意識を受容することを唱えるものであり、換言すれば近代西洋人の目を通して中国国民党が上から下へと中国人民の身体を監視し、あらゆる個人を馴養してこの眼差しを内面化させ、近代西洋的な挙止動作・礼儀作法を遵守するよう迫ることにより、中国人を近代的国民へと改造することを試みる運動であった。以上の様な研究成果を、中国北京市で開催された"中〓民国史国〓学〓〓〓会"において発表し、中国を初めとする世界各国の研究者と討論すると共に、これを日本語に翻訳し雑誌論文として発表した。

That is to say, the natural desire of one's own body, the artificial order of others, the aesthetic foundation of the body, the management, control and protection of the spirit, the community of relatives, neighbors and friends, the community of others, the harmony of the whole society, the harmony of the whole society, the harmony of the whole society Private and public space is clean and tidy. The body aesthetics of traditional China is fundamentally different from that of modern Western thought, which is contrary to traditional China thought. The New Life Movement changed the China people's consciousness of their own bodies, and Westerners imitated modern body aesthetics and public consciousness. In other words, the eyes of modern Westerners were open to the Chinese Kuomintang. The Chinese people's bodies were monitored from top to bottom, and individuals were domesticated. Modern Western etiquette and behavior are observed, China people are reformed, and modern Chinese people are reformed. The results of the above research were presented at the "China National History Conference" held in Beijing City, China, and discussed by researchers from all over the world.
