英文摘要
Sliding metal surfaces are subjected to complex dynamical changes, which play a key role in understanding the frictional and wear properties of macroscopic systems. The main objective of the proposed project is to observe these dynamical changes “in action” on the nanoscale and take a step towards modeling of friction and wear. The goals will be achieved by developing a novel hybrid tribometer, which will be used to perform smart model experiments that link topography changes to the frictional response and material removal of the sliding bodies.
