Reexamination of the Perceptions toward East Asia in the Studies of Japanese History.

1.调查人员在日本和韩国各地调查和收集史料，以促进2002-2005财年的每一项指定研究。2.调查人员举行了18次联合研究会议，报告和讨论日本历史、韩国历史和韩日关系史。为了介绍研究人员与首尔国立大学在韩国的日本史和韩国史研究人员的联合研究和学术交流等情况，我们分别于2002年8月23-25日、2003年8月22-24日、2004年8月20-22日和2005年8月26-28日(2002年和2004年在首尔国立大学一桥大学举行了第5-8届韩日联合历史研究项目研讨会)。韩日两国学者决定相继就日本史、朝鲜史、韩日关系史等重要课题展开讨论，以期深入了解两国史学研究的现状和存在的问题。根据这一政策，各座谈会都准备并开展了报告和讨论。研讨会的报告总数为20篇(韩国-12篇，日本-8篇)。4.通过研讨会，韩日两国的研究人员可以证实该方法的有效性，即他们确立了“东亚世界”的观点，并对两国的社会进行了比较。为了进一步促进和深化比较研究，我们计划筹备“韩日相互认知历史研究”的联合研究。5.由Kasuya Ken-ichi编辑，发表了第5-8次研讨会的报告。

1.Investigators investigated and collected historical sources at various places in Japan and Korea in order to promote each assigned research during 2002-2005 fiscal years.2.Investigators held joint research meeting 18 times, to report and discuss on Japanese History, Korean History, and the History of Korean-Japanese Relations. Investigators also held meeting 7 times, to talk over performance and review of research.3.For the presentation of investigators' joint research and scholarly interchange with researchers of Japanese History and Korean History in Korea belonging to Seoul National University and so on, we held the 5th-8th Symposium of Korea-Japan Joint Historical Research Project at 23-25 August 2002, 22-24 August 2003, 20-22 August 2004 and 26-28 August 2005 (in 2002 and 2004 at Hitotsubashi University in 2003 and 2005 at Seoul National University). Researchers of Korea and Japan decided to take up important topics in Japanese History, Korean History and the History of Korean-Japanese Relations one after another, and discuss on them frankly in order to understand deeply present situation and problems in the Historical Studies in both countries. Based on this policy, each symposiums prepared and carried out reports and discussions. The total number of reports in symposiums is 20 (Korean-12, Japan-8).4.Through symposiums, researchers of Korean and Japan could confirm the effectiveness of method, that they set up the viewpoint of "East Asia World" and compare the societies of both countries. For further promoting and deepening the comparative research, we planned to prepare the joint research of "Historical Research on mutual perceptions between Korea and Japan."5.Edited by Kasuya Ken-ichi, Reports of the 5th-8th Symposium were published.
