In today's information society, statistical knowledge become more essential than ever before. The current statistical education at the university level, however, has been insufficient.The aims of this research were to grasp the needs for statistical knowledge in society accurately and to improve the curricula and materials for statistical education at the university level.In order to investigate the present situation and actual requirements, we conducted the following two surveys ;1)A survey using a questionnaire on the needs for and availability of statistical knowledge and data analysis in private enterprise and national and local governments.2)A survey of the textbooks used for statistical lectures at universities in 2005.We also held the following 6 conferences to improve statistical education at the university level.(1)The first symposium on statistical education. (2004.3)(2)The second symposium on statistical education. (2005.3)(3)The symposium on statistical education for professional workers. (The third symposium on statistical education.) (2005.11)(4)The fourth symposium on statistical education. (2006.3)(5)The first workshop on statistical education. (2005.3)(6)The second workshop on statistical education. (2006.3)

在当今的信息社会中，统计知识比以往任何时候都更加重要。然而，目前大学的统计教育存在不足，为了准确把握社会对统计知识的需求，改进大学统计教育的课程和教材，本研究进行了以下两项调查：（1）使用问卷调查私营企业、国家和地方政府对统计知识和数据分析的需求和供应情况。对2005年大学统计学讲座所用教材的调查。我们还举行了以下6次会议，以提高统计学大学教育。（1）首届统计教育座谈会。（2004.3）（2）第二届统计教育研讨会。（2005.3）（3）专业工作者统计教育座谈会。(The第三届统计教育研讨会。（2005.11）（4）第四届统计教育研讨会。（2006.3）（5）第一次统计教育讲习班。（2005.3）（6）第二次统计教育讲习班。（2006.3）
