AN INFORMATION THEORETICAL RESEARCH ON THE EAST ASIAN SQUARE-SCRIPT SETS

The components of east asian square characters including modern Kanjs in Japan, China and Korea change their size and space formation. But, the details of classifications and distributions in quantities are never clear even in Kanjis. That is to say, there's almost no fundamental data about script-unit sets in front of us. This is why I try to search for a key in this research.Prepared for this research, I have concretely investigated modern常用漢字-Japanese(1945s), Chinese(2418s) and Korean(1800s)- script-unit sets in Chapter 1. Consequently, they have similar trends, e.g. 4 out of 115 formational types share 70-75% in each.As another preparation, I have also tried obtaining the sharing rate of Kanji(J, C and K), small Khitan and Jerchen script sets in Chapter 2. Consequently, unexpected results have made clear, such as less than 50% of J share with C or K, and nearly 20% of J with small Khitan.In Chapter 3, I have applied a set theory to small Khitan Character. Firstly, the script-unit set was drawn. Then, I investigated its distribution of symmetric types, and compared with Kanji(J, C and K). Finally, I counted elements of each type in space formation, and compared with Kanji(J, C and K) and Hangul Syllabary (Korea).In Supplementary, I also investigated the distribution of symmetric types in script set(J, C, K, small Khitan), to show a difference from script-unit set.
