项目摘要

芸道としての法華経読誦、すなわち「読経道」がいかなる体系を持ち、どのように芸道化していったかを明らかにするために、今年度は、身延文庫(山梨県)・金沢文庫(神奈川県)などを中心に資料調査を重ね、4編の論文(および1編の小論文)の公表を行った。読経道資料の全体を俯瞰できるよう、各寺院・文庫への調査を通じて読経道資料を収集することは研究に欠かせない。今年度もこれまでと同様に、それらの調査の際に撮影した資料を整理し、解読を試みている。特に、身延文庫蔵『和語雑々抄』は、読経と和歌の学問を<声>という観点で繋ぐものとして注目される。今年度、本資料を閲覧できたことは大きな収穫であった。資料撮影や解読には、高性能のデジタルカメラやプリンターの力を存分に使うことができた。資料調査の成果はこれまでも公表してきたが、さらに充実して公にできるよう翻刻を進めるとともに、資料をめぐる文化的位置づけについて考究し、基礎作業を行った。また、読経道の全容を明らかにする作業の一階梯として、前年に刊行した『読経道の研究』の成果を発展させ、これがどのような体系を持った芸道であったのかの概観(いかに文化史的に魅力ある芸道であるか、という点をも含みつつ)と、音声に纏わる芸能としての特色を王権と性に関わらせて論じたものとを活字化した。3年間の研究は、著書『読経道の研究』の刊行を中核として、読経道の基礎的研究を推進したものである。さらに、本研究を宗教・文学・歴史・音楽の各側面において発展させる見通しも十分に立たせることができた。
