2004年度は都内で毎月開かれている「アフリカセミナー」第67回(6月19日)にて「J.M.Coetzee(南アフリカ)のDisgrace(邦題『恥辱』)(1999)における土地へのまなざし」というタイトルで発表した。秀逸なOlive Schreiner論を展開したCoetzeeの現代の南アを舞台にした作品において描かれる、土地とそこに生きる「白人の家庭」の政治学を通して、Schreinerの描く約一世紀前の白人家庭表象研究に寄与する考察が可能になった。また、9月2-17日まで南アフリカのケープタウン大学とイギリスのロンドン大学で資料収集に努めた。主にSchreinerの未完の大作であるFrom Man to Manが扱う「白人家庭」内の人種とジェンダーの問題を今までのようなイギリス帝国主義的な背景からではなく、南アフリカの白人女性の自己形成という視点から捉えようとする上で欠かせない資料を入手した。それは、当時Schreinerも関心を寄せていた南アフリカのBlack Peril(黒人男性による白人女性への性的暴行)の問題とそれをはるかに上回るWhite Peril(白人男性による黒人女性への性的暴行)に関するものであった。ロンドン大学で注文したその文献が最近やっと届いた。その文献を生かす形で、2003年度にギリシャでのシンポジウムで発表した論文"Politics of Gender, Race, and White South African Space in Olive Schreiner's From Man to Man"を投稿論文として加筆修正中である。尚、2005年にミネルヴァ書房から刊行予定の図書に、Schreinerのthe Story of an African Farmについて原稿を執筆したが、今までの研究成果が生かされた内容となっている。
