项目摘要

建築の文化財の成立期において、その基本的な骨格を決めたのが関野貞である。関野貞は日本で文化財制度を成立させると、調査を韓国・中国に広げ、特に韓国においてはその文化財制度の成立にまで関わっている。去年に続き、関野貞資料の整理分析を行った。朝鮮半島においての古建築調査で、関野貞は、主に構造様式、模様、装飾などを取り上げながら、朝鮮半島においての建築文化を、中国文化展開を其軸とした通史的観点から総括した。また、このときの調査では発見できなかった高麗時代の古建築を、その後の調査の際見つけたが、浮石寺無量寿殿及び祖師堂がそれである。このときも関野貞は1902年調査同様、建築の構造様式、色彩、模様などを分析し、朝鮮最古の木造建築として結論づけた。その後、関野貞は朝鮮古蹟調査でも古建築調査を続け、客舎、郷校、寺院、書院など幅広く調査し、さらにその保存の必要性を報告した。特に、1909年から11年まで3年間行われた等級付けは、その後の朝鮮総督府による古建築修理の基礎的データとして用いられたと思われる。なお、今回の調査で、1912年の報告書の原稿が見つかった。これは、未発表のものであり、この年の古建築調査を究明するに重要な資料と思われる。朝鮮古蹟調査の際、関野貞は名称・所在地・年代を一覧表であらわし、価値あるものから甲・乙・丙・丁の4等級をつけ、保存の必要性を説いた。この調査内容はその後朝鮮半島における文化財保存政策の基礎データとして用いられた。このときの調査の際、撮影されたと思われる写真目録が、フィールドカードとともに発見され、今後両資料の比較検討が必要と考えられる。なお、この研究の成果として、2005年6月開催予定の東京大学総合研究博物館特別展にて報告する予定である。
