项目摘要

本研究は、日本とインドの高齢者の比較研究を目指すものである。人口高齢化及びその背景をなす社会経済的条件は、両国において際立った対照をみせている。平成15年度は、日本とインドについて高齢者調査を実施し、データの収集をはかり、その分析に着手した。平成16年度は、それをさらに進めるとともに、(1)両国の人口高齢化の現状と将来、(2)両国高齢者の健康状態と生活実態の2つの面についてデータの収集・整備をはかり、比較分析を進め成果のとりまとめを行った。嵯峨座晴夫とアロック・クマール両名の発表論文は別記のとおりであるが、このほかにも以下のような研究活動を行なうとともに、日印の研究者との交流をはかった。学会発表としては、平成15年11月にアジア・オセアニア国際老年学会(東京)で嵯峨座はアジア人口の高齢化について、クマールはインドの高齢者調査の結果についてそれぞれ発表し、平成16年6月には日本人口学会(東京)において連名でインドの家族計画について発表した。平成16年11月には日本社会学会(熊本)に参加して、所沢市の高齢者の居住形態に関する調査の報告を行なった。また、平成15年12月にはインドの総合研究プロジェクトの国際ワークショップ(一橋大学斎藤修教授主催、大阪)に参加し、研究者との交流を行い、平成16年12月には早稲田大学人間総合研究センターが開催した「アジアの高齢者の居住形態の変化に関するワークショップ」(東京)にもかかわり、発表とともに意見交換を行なった。所沢市の高齢者に関する調査には、その実施ならびに分析に両者とも参加したので、近く刊行されるその結果報告書にも分担執筆をしている。
