A study about Computerization of the Archaeological Excavation Report

We have been studied archeological excavation reports which are recorded on CD-ROM and also made some investigations about the situation of the archeological information which are distributed through the Internet. Through these studies, we devised the new method of the electronic report in a new concept.Generally speaking archaeological researchers use excavation reports in order to get some information necessary for their own studies. Those who studies stone tools will gather information about stone tools, and those who studied potteries will gather information about potteries. In other words the excavation reports are not the thing that it is always necessary for researchers, if information are accumulated by the unit which are able to be found easily. As for the basic roles of the report, the first one is to explain that the excavation was accomplished appropriately. The second is to explain archeological evidences provided by excavation. The best answer for these is to build some databases which are consist of information recorded on the excavation report. Database software is also needed to utilize these information.Based on this concept, we work out the grand design for database of "the archeology information" and database management system..
