本年度の研究はこれまでの研究を理論と実証の両面から整理し,わが国の生産と販売の需給調整過程の組織的調整過程の特質を明らかにすることを目的とした。第一の理論的研究では,需給調整の組織過程を研究する多面的なアプローチの可能性を検討した。これまでのSCM研究では,需給調整の組織過程を組織間コミュニケーションによる統合,組織能力の統合といった視点で明らかにしようとしてきた。しかしこれらのパースペクティブは,複雑な市場環境や流通過程の特性を十分に考慮されていないように思われる。そのため,この領域の研究を深化させるためにはマーケティング戦略やチャネル管理と関連づけた検討が必要になることを明らかにした。第二の実証的研究では,本研究の出発点の一つとなった化粧品メーカーに対してインタビューを実施した。この企業は粉飾決算などの法的問題を問われた企業ではあるが,まさにこの事例が需給調整過程の問題を内包しているため,あえて調査を実施した。この企業は,高度な需給調整システムの構築によって需要変動への柔軟な対応を可能にしたが,マーケティング戦略とチャネル関係の変化に対応しきれず,返品制によって自らの不良在庫を増加させた。つまり需給調整過程はマーケティング戦略とチャネル関係に影響され,戦略的に統合された組織活動でなければならないことを示している。これらの研究成果は公刊論文として公開する予定である。現段階では成果の一部が共著書の一章として公開されている。
