犯罪不安(Fear of Crime)は、犯罪や、犯罪に関連するシンボルに対する情緒的反応と定義される(Ferraro,1995)。日本では近年、犯罪の増加に伴い犯罪不安の高まりが指摘されるようになったが、犯罪不安に影響する性別、年齢などの個人差、犯罪発生率との関係などの地域差に関する基礎的な研究が不足している。このため、本研究では1)日本における犯罪不安の測定尺度の確立2)犯罪率が異なる複数地区における犯罪不安の比較、3)リスク知覚を含めた犯罪不安の説明モデルの構築を目的とする。本年度は、予備的な分析として、JGSS(日本版総合社会調査)、ICVS(国際犯罪被害調査)の犯罪リスク知覚(FEARWALK,近隣で危険を感じる場所の有無)を被説明変数にした再分析を行った。米国での知見と同様に、女性は男性よりも、若年者は高齢者よりも犯罪リスクを知覚している割合が高いことが示された。ロジスティック回帰分析の結果、性別、既婚・未婚、年齢が有意にリスク知覚を予測した。また、パス解析により、犯罪リスク知覚が居住満足感を低減させ、政府の犯罪取締支出に対してより許容的にさせることが示された。変数FEARWALKは、米国の世論調査ではデファクトになっているが、構成概念妥当性への疑義や、個人の犯罪不安の程度を示すことができないといった欠点が指摘される。このため、空き巣やひったくりなど12の犯罪について「被害にあう心配」を4件法で尋ねる犯罪不安尺度を構成した。確認的因子分析の結果、財産犯と身体犯の2因子構造をもち、犯罪不安の性差は身体犯不安に起因することなどの知見が得られた。今後、HLM(階層線形モデル)を用いて、個人差と地域差とを統合した分析を行う予定である。

Fear of Crime is defined in terms of emotions associated with Crime (Ferraro,1995). In recent years, the increase in crime in Japan has been accompanied by a high level of crime, and basic research on the relationship between gender, age, individual differences, and regional differences in crime incidence has been insufficient. This year, the number of analyses prepared, JGSS(Japanese version of the Comprehensive Social Survey), ICVS(International Crime Victimization Survey) and FEARWALK (Presence of Neighborhood Danger Sensing Sites) were explained and reanalyzed.
