地域振興とは経済的な指標のみならず、地域の自律性、住民の自主性、福利の向上などが必要不可欠である。そこで本研究では、昭和初期の農村経済更生運動を地域振興事業として捉え直し、農村の視点から近代日本における地域振興の自律的展開メカニズムを解明することを目的とした。今年度は、昨年度に引き続き、群馬県渋川市北橘町(旧勢多郡北橘村)を対象地域とし、(1)下南室地区に昭和初期に建設された水力発電所と貯水池が地域に及ぼした影響、更正運動に背景となった昭和恐慌による影響などに関する当時の新聞記事等の収集(2)上箱田地区における昭和初期の青年団活動、真壁地区における昭和初期の産業組合などについての聞き取り(3)更生運動の研究者であった故・小池善吉氏、衣料自給などについての資料収集(4)上箱田地区の旧家・集落が所蔵する地方文書等の閲覧などを実施し、得られた情報の整理に着手した。

Regional revitalization is an important aspect of regional self-discipline, autonomy of residents, and welfare. This study aims to clarify the development of regional revitalization in modern Japan from the perspective of rural revitalization in the early Showa period.
