本研究の目的は、相対的最小条件タイプの移動に課せられる条件を理論から取り除くことが可能であるという仮説の検証を行うことにある。本年度前半は、前年度に引き続き、1)英語およびロマンス諸語の繰上げ構文における繰上げ述語の経験者と名詞句移動の関係、2)ゲルマン諸語、ロマンス諸語の再構造化構文における格付与および名詞句移動の2点を対象とし、仮説の検証に取り組んだ。繰上げ構文及び再構造化構文は、同一のフェイズ内での相対的最小条件の効果が消失するという仮説により説明可能であるものの、前年度の対象受動化構文同様、以下3つの補助仮説が必要であることが確定した。A)フェイズがparametric optionである。B)顕在的移動の経由地点と一致の関係には厳密な意味での対応関係はない。C)LFサイクルは存在しない。本研究の仮説の妥当性は、これらの補助仮説の妥当性に大きく依存するものであるため、本年度を通じて補助仮説の検証も行った。具体的には、仮説Aに関して動詞頭位語順の言語に観察される反ECP効果が、フェイズがparametric optionであるという仮説によってのみ統一的な説明を与えることが可能であることを明らかにした。仮説Bに関してルーマニア語の変則的な性の一致に関する現象が、repair systemを持つ形態理論により最もよく説明されることを指摘し、顕在的移動の経由地点と一致の関係には厳密な意味での対応関係を認めるのは主張として強すぎることを示した。仮説Cに関しては、ギリシャ語やロマンス語では命令形から否定命令文を作ることができないという事実が、LFサイクルのひとつの根拠となっていたが、命令文における副詞や接語の生起可能な位置に一定の制限が課されるという事実を統一的に捉えるためにはLFサイクルを認めるべきではないことを示した。結論として、これらの補助仮説を擁護する議論が正しい限りにおいて、相対的最小条件タイプの移動に課せられる条件を理論から取り除き、局所性の理論を再構築すべきであるといえる。
