近年、7世紀の木簡が相次いで出土しており、『日本書紀』『古事記』などの編纂史料ではわからなかった新たな知見が得られつつある。しかし7世紀木簡に書かれた文字は癖の強いものであり、釈読はたいへん困難を極める。そこで本研究では、全国の7世紀木簡に関する情報を広く収集したうえで、書風を中心に検討をおこなうことにした。本年度も前年度に引き続いて、飛鳥・藤原地域の木簡を中心に整理・研究にあたったが、釈読の過程で全国の文字史料にも広く目配りをした。また、7世紀の荷札木簡全点の最調査をおこない、最新の釈文を提示することができた。具体的な成果は次のとおりである。(1)7世紀の荷札木簡339点を対象とした史料集『評制下荷札木簡集成』(奈良文化財研究所史料第76冊)を作成し、そのなかに荷札木簡研究の現状を報告した。(2)(1)の作業に付随して、8世紀初頭の木簡の再調査をおこない、「藤原宮出土荷札木簡補遺」と題するレポートを『奈良文化財研究所紀要2006』に執筆した。(3)近年出土した飛鳥・藤原地域出土木簡(石神遺跡、藤原宮跡)の最新の釈文を『飛鳥・藤原宮発掘調査出土木簡概報19』に公表した。(4)飛鳥池遺跡出土木簡の整理をおこない、木簡1点ずつの詳細な検討結果、および「木簡からみた飛鳥池遺跡」と題する論考を『飛鳥池遺跡発掘調査報告書』に執筆した。(5)酒船石遺跡出土木簡の整理をおこない、木簡1点ずつの詳細な検討結果を『酒船石遺跡発掘調査報告書』に執筆した。(6)「石神遺跡出土の仕丁木簡」と題する論文を『飛鳥文化財論攷』に執筆した。(7)「五十戸木簡の世界-荷札木簡を中心に-」と題する口頭報告を、横浜歴史博物館でおこなった。(8)2005年秋から2006年春にかけて、石神遺跡第18次調査で木簡が出土しており、その整理をおこなっている。
